WINDMILL MAINTENANCE

Changing Oil and Lubrication (minimal) Oil should be change annually regardless of the type of windmill. Failure to do so could and probably will result in unwanted wear on mechanical parts.

Tower and Mill Inspection (minimal) Whether you have a steel or wood tower annual inspection is necessary. Steel towers have a tendency to rust and brake off at ground level after decades of use. So before climbing on a steel tower check the anchor connections with the gorund.

Check the brake device for wear.

Brasada Wood Finish: Western Red Cedar is the choice of wood for Brasada Windmills due to its unbeatable quality, appearance and longevity. The natural oils in cedar help make the wood resistant to decay and insect attach, increasing its durability and weatherability without the use of chemical treatment. Although cedar is a naturally durable species Brasada Windmills does not recommend leaving it untreated. Properly finished and maintained, cedar will deliver decades of trouble-free service. Please contact Brasada Windmills for different stains and finishes. For more info on Western Red Cedar, visit http://www.wrcla.org.
